Are you struggling with feelings of inadequacy? Do you wonder if you measure up? Are you looking for affirmations or signs that you are enough?

Lately, I’ve been feeling like I’m not cut out for what I’m called to do. I’ve been working in the counseling field for about 4 years now.

My dream has always been to be in private practice, but before I get to that point, there are some hoops I must jump through.

I’m working with addicts at a local treatment facility and the job is difficult. Sometimes, it’s so hard, I want to throw in the towel and quit because I feel utterly inadequate.

This question swirls around in my mind on a daily basis. I wonder if I am perfect enough, intelligent enough, talented enough, professional enough, …. whatever…. just fill in the blank________ enough.

Why did God call me to something I may not be good enough for?

Because I don’t have to be enough. God is enough.

If anything, this job will drive to my knees and to rely on God every minute of every day.

God’s strength is what keeps me from calling it quits. God is enough to overcome my inadequacy.

So, what should we do to confront our inadequacy? We listen to God. He tells us the truth.

When we bring our honest feelings to God, He affirms us. Below are 10 powerful affirmations we can believe because they come from God.

Let the affirmations sink into your mind and heart. They will give you the hope and strength to carry on through difficult seasons in your life.

If we repeat these affirmations to ourselves on a daily basis, they will replace the negative thoughts of inadequacy and change our feelings in the process.

  10. I can find my adequacy in God. 2 Corinthians 3:5

I don’t pretend to know all the answers, but I do know that we can find hope in the truth of God’s Word. When we feel inadequate, it is okay to confront and challenge those feelings. I mean who wants to walk around feeling defeated? I know I don’t.

Just know, sweet friend, I am struggling right along with you. You aren’t alone. I find encouragement in hearing your stories and partnering with you in your struggles. We can find hope in encouraging each other.

God is enough to overcome my inadequacy.
